Cliff Simmons

Cliff is the founder and former president of the South Jersey Barons. It all started in 1996 with the formation of the Barons D3 pro team and continued with the initiation of the youth club in 1999.

Cliff has coached several successful teams in the club including the 83/84 boys, 86/87 boys and most recently the 89/90 girls. Included in those teams are three current members of the Elite Barons coaching staff, Ian Simmons, Joe Banks and Ryan Franks. He also has several players that contribute to the success of the PDL team including Jim Davis, Joe Banks and Bill Pinto. Ian and Ryan have also gone on to coach in the South Jersey high school ranks at West Deptford and Cherokee respectively.

Cliff coaches the SJEB 98/99 Boys and is the VP of the EDP Board. 

Cliff has a national USSF C license and was inducted into the United Soccer Leagues Hall of Fame this past winter which adds to his South Jersey High School Soccer Hall of Fame Induction and his Lower Camden County Regional School District induction through Edgewood High School (now Winslow). - Former Professional player with the Philadelphia Fever of the MISL 1977-78 

- Former Professional player with the New Jersey Americans of the APSL 1978 

- Division 1 college soccer at University of Akron 1976-77 

- South Jersey High School Player of the Year (Edgewood High School) 1975 

- All State and All South Jersey 1974 and 1975 

- Leading scorer in Edgewood High School History Single Season 41 goals 

- Leading scorer in Edgewood High School History Career 69 goals 

- Selected to the Courier Post team of the century (2000) 

- United Soccer League Hall of Fame inductee 

- South Jersey High School Soccer Hall of Fame inductee 

- Lower Camden County Regional School District Hall of Fame Inductee 

- Coached youth soccer for 7 years in the Winslow Township Soccer Association 
- Coached youth soccer for 8 years in the South Jersey Barons Youth Club
